[--MAIN HOME--] [--ALL HABYHINTS--] ENROLL IN MSU METEOROLOGY PROGRAM METEOROLOGIST JEFF HABY DISTANCE LEARNING PROGRAM (BMP/OMP) Mississippi State University has two distance learning meteorology programs. They are the Broadcast Meteorology Program and the Operational Meteorology Program. The Operational Meteorology Program is for military personnel while the Broadcast Meteorology Program is for those working in the field of broadcast meteorology (or plan to be involved in meteorology in some way in the future). The BMP program is designed for weather broadcasters to be able to complete the required coursework to gain seals of approval and the certificate in broadcast meteorology. The OMP is designed to give military personnel additional coursework in meteorology. These programs are non-calculus based, taught by video lecture/Internet course materials/top books in the field and can be completed in 3-years. Instructors for each of the courses will be able to answer any question you have via bulletin board or e-mail. The requirements to enroll in the program are a high school diploma and acceptable ACT or SAT scores. The on-campus BMP program trains students in on-hands weather forecasting and broadcast meteorology. Facilities include broadcasting labs and weather forecasting labs. The on-campus OMP program trains students for a career in operational meteorology (non-calculus or calculus program). The on-campus programs have both an undergraduate and graduate program.
